Class MultidimensionalScalingEx2
java.lang.Object
com.imsl.test.example.stat.MultidimensionalScalingEx2
Applies multidimensional scaling to rectangles of different size.
The following example involves three subjects' assessment of the dissimilarity between rectangles that vary in height and width. An analysis is performed in 2 dimensions using the individual-differences scaling model. The estimated subject weights, \(w_{mk}, \, m=1,2,3,\, k=1,2\) , indicate how each subject weights the dimensions.
The raw data are given as follows: $$ \begin{pmatrix} - & 1.00 & 1.41 & 2.24 & 2.00 & 2.24 & 1.41 & 1.00 & 1.00\\ & - & 1.00 & 2.00 & 2.24 & 2.83 & 2.24 & 2.00 & 1.41\\ & & - & 1.00 & 1.41 & 2.24 & 2.00 & 2.24 & 1.00\\ & & & - & 1.00 & 2.00 & 2.24 & 2.83 & 1.41\\ & & & & - & 1.00 & 1.41 & 2.24 & 1.00\\ & & & & & - & 1.00 & 2.00 & 1.41\\ & & & & & & - & 1.00 & 1.00\\ & & & & & & & - & 1.41\\ & & & & & & & & - \\ \end{pmatrix} \\[2cm] \begin{pmatrix} - & 1.50 & 1.68 & 2.12 & 1.50 & 2.12 & 1.68 & 1.50 & 0.75\\ & - & 0.75 & 1.50 & 2.12 & 3.35 & 3.09 & 3.00 & 1.68\\ & & - & 0.75 & 1.68 & 3.09 & 3.00 & 3.09 & 1.50\\ & & & - & 1.50 & 3.00 & 3.09 & 3.35 & 1.68\\ & & & & - & 1.50 & 1.68 & 2.12 & 0.75\\ & & & & & - & 0.75 & 1.50 & 1.68\\ & & & & & & - & 0.75 & 1.50\\ & & & & & & & - & 1.68\\ & & & & & & & & - \\ \end{pmatrix} \\[2cm] \begin{pmatrix} - & 0.50 & 2.06 & 4.03 & 4.00 & 4.03 & 2.06 & 0.50 & 2.00\\ & - & 2.00 & 4.00 & 4.03 & 4.12 & 2.24 & 1.00 & 2.06\\ & & - & 2.00 & 2.06 & 2.24 & 1.00 & 2.24 & 0.50\\ & & & - & 0.50 & 1.00 & 2.24 & 4.12 & 2.06\\ & & & & - & 0.50 & 2.06 & 4.03 & 2.00\\ & & & & & - & 2.00 & 4.00 & 2.06\\ & & & & & & - & 2.00 & 0.50\\ & & & & & & & - & 2.06\\ & & & & & & & & - \\ \end{pmatrix} $$-
